Moneymaker is an extra early aubergine, Glossy black not too long fruits and the calyx and the stems are attractive deep purple too. Aubergines are high in potassium, folates and magnesium and a good source of Vitamins E and K. Grow the Moneymaker aubergine under protection, in a greenhouse or polytunnel.

Sow seeds about 0.5 cm deep in a good, free-draining, moist seed compost, for best results sow the aubergine seeds as early as your chilli seeds - February-March. Place in a heated propagator, on a windowsill, or seal the seed tray into a polythene bag at a temperature of 18-21 Celsius until after germination, which takes 10 -14 days.Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into individual pots and grow in slightly cooler conditions. Finally, pot into larger containers or 2 plants into a growbag, or outdoors once plants have been acclimatised to conditions and after all risk of frost has passed.

Grow under cover, in the greenhouse, conservatory or outside in well- drained, rich soil, in a sunny location. Once first flowers have set, feed and water regularly with tomato feed. Harvest regularly to encourage further flower and fruit production.
