Melon Seeds

Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) originates from southern Africa and one of the most popular types of melon. The plants are climbing and have thousends of fine hair on the stems. The leaves are rather pretty. Watermelon is grown widely from seed in many part of Europe, especially in Greece, Turkey and Hungary. The plants need a long growing season and a warm climate to grow. To extend the growing season the seeds can be planted late winter indoors and later put out to the greenhouse. Watermelon Charleston Grey and Sugar Baby can be grown successfully in the english climate, especially in a greenhouse. The watremelon seeds need a warm temperature to germinate and quite slow to start growing, but later in the summer will grow quickly, to help this regular feeding is recommended. Watermelons are a good source of lycopin and Vitamin C, also contain beta carotin.
