Arctic King is bred for autumn sowing. Great cold resistant, although appreciates a cloche protection in really cold areas. This large Butterhead variety produces tasty light green heads with crinkled leaves for harvesting in spring. Lettuce Arctic King is very hard and will stand mild frost. A great variety to fill a cold greenhouse with in the autumn.

Sow the Arctic King lettuce seeds in late summer - autumn direct outside, 0.5 cm deep 30 cm apart. Or sow it in moduls in an unheated greenhouse and plant them out later. A rich, well-drained soil is recommended.Thin out to 25-35 cm apart as the seedlings appear. Water well in dry spells. Can be harvested at the leafy stage, or left to mature until the hearts form.
