Californian poppy, Eschscholzia californica is a very popular annual here in the UK, the official flower of California. It is very easy to grow, tolerates drought very well. Peach Sorbet has wonderful peachy flowers which look like rose buds, almost like double flowers of the traditional poppy. The plants are around 30 cm tall and the flowers are 4 - 6 cm across.

Sow directly outside in late spring, this method is better as the seedlings are fragile and will be very hard to transplant them. Sow the Californian poppy seeds in a well prepared area, lightly cover the tiny seeds only. The germination will take 10 - 20 days. They love full sun and the flowers most likely will not open in a shady garden.
