Aquilegia McKanas Giant is a hardy perennial. The plants are 70-80 cm tall. A new selection of varieties means larger flowers and up to 4 ins spurs. A fantastic range of colours including the combination of scarlet, crimson, yellow, blue and white. Plants are harmful if eaten. Prefers a sunny spot, ordinary well drained soil.

Sow the Aquilegia flower seeds inside on the surface of good quality seed compost, do not cover the seeds as light will help the germination. Keep the seeds at temperature of 15-20 Celsius. Germination can take up to 1 month. Sow these perennial flower seeds in January inside to flower the same year, or May-june to flower in the following year. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged.

When the seedlings are large enough to handle plant them into individual pots and keep them inside. Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting them outside to their final position.
