{"id":3417,"date":"2015-03-27T22:05:02","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T22:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/?p=3417"},"modified":"2023-02-17T07:01:29","modified_gmt":"2023-02-17T07:01:29","slug":"morroccan-spiced-cottage-pie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/recipes\/morroccan-spiced-cottage-pie\/","title":{"rendered":"Morroccan spiced (cottage) pie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3418\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"marroccanpie\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the all British cottage pie, with a little Shepherd&#8217;s pie and a whole lot of Moroccan spices.<\/p>\n<p>Original recipe is from BBC Good Food adapted and cooke by me ;-).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Serves 4-6 people:<\/p>\n<p>1 tbsp olive oil<\/p>\n<p>1 large onion, chopped<\/p>\n<p>2 garlic cloves, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 carrot, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 leek, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 stalk of celery ,chopped<\/p>\n<p>1(yellow) pepper chopped<\/p>\n<p>pinch of cayenne pepper<\/p>\n<p>1tsp cardamom (powder)<\/p>\n<p>1tsp cloves (powder)<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp cinnamon (powder)<\/p>\n<p>500g beef mince<\/p>\n<p>2 tbsp tomato puree (or small can)<\/p>\n<p>500ml beef or chicken stock<\/p>\n<p>1kg potatoes<\/p>\n<p>400g can chickpeas<\/p>\n<p>75g butter<\/p>\n<p>3 tsp ras el-hanout<\/p>\n<p>1tsp oregano<\/p>\n<p>1tsp marjoram<\/p>\n<p>1tsp celery leaf (dried spices)<\/p>\n<p>4tbsp raisins<\/p>\n<p>200g frozen peas<\/p>\n<p>small pack parsley, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1tbsp sasame seeds<\/p>\n<p>4tbsp of grated cheese<\/p>\n<p>Method<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3419\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie01-300x100.jpg\" alt=\"marroccanpie01\" width=\"300\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie01-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie01.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Peel and parcook the potatoes, drain and set aside to cool.<\/p>\n<p>Heat oil in a large saucepan and Brown the mince. When browned remove meat from the pan and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>Heat a bit more oil and put in the garlic, onions, carrot, leek and celery, carrot and bellpepper.<\/p>\n<p>Cook until softened, then return meat to the pan and add the spiced, let simmer for a few minutes until spices become fragrant.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3420\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie02-300x100.jpg\" alt=\"marroccanpie02\" width=\"300\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie02-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie02.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add the tomato puree and cook out for 2 minutes. Then add the peas and chickpeas raisins, stock and bring to the boil.<\/p>\n<p>Let cook for about 20 minutes, so the sauce can thicken.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3421\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie03-300x100.jpg\" alt=\"marroccanpie03\" width=\"300\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie03-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie03.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile heat the oven to 180C and butter an ovendish.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie04-300x100.jpg\" alt=\"marroccanpie04\" width=\"300\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie04-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/marroccanpie04.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Spoon the meat in the bottom, sprinkle parsley on top and add the potatoes.
