{"id":3756,"date":"2015-10-31T08:46:48","date_gmt":"2015-10-31T08:46:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/?p=3756"},"modified":"2023-02-16T19:50:09","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T19:50:09","slug":"halloween-rest-in-peas-soup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/recipes\/halloween-rest-in-peas-soup\/","title":{"rendered":"Halloween: rest in peas soup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because of the pun it\u2019s great for Halloween, but with \u201cnormal\u201d soldiers good for any day of the year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/restinpeassoup.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3757\" src=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/restinpeassoup-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"restinpeassoup\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/restinpeassoup-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/restinpeassoup-150x119.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/restinpeassoup-696x552.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.seedparade.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/restinpeassoup.jpg 757w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For 8-10 bowls:<\/p>\n<p>50grams of butter<\/p>\n<p>2 onions, chopped finely<\/p>\n<p>2 cloves of garlic, chopped finely<\/p>\n<p>1.5 kilo of frozen peas (if you bags are 450grams like mine just use 3)<\/p>\n<p>750ml of (chicken) stock<\/p>\n<p>100grams or streaky bacon<\/p>\n<p>1 green chilli pepper, whole<\/p>\n<p>Salt and pepper<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon of oil<\/p>\n<p>Bunch of parsley (chopped)<\/p>\n<p>1 slice of white bread per person, roasted cut in half and made into gravestones<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<p>In a dry frying pan, place rashes of bacon and bake until crispy, do this in batches if needed, let drain on kitchen paper.<\/p>\n<p>In a souppan het oil and&nbsp; soften onions, garlic and chilli on alow heat.<\/p>\n<p>Once softened add 2\/3 of the frozen peas and 2\/3 of the stock.<\/p>\n<p>Let simmer for 2 minutes and them add the parsley, cook for another minute.<\/p>\n<p>Blend soup in blender.<\/p>\n<p>Return soup to the pan and add \u00bd the rest of the peas (reserve some for decoration) and the butter.<\/p>\n<p>The soup should be quite thick to support the weight of the bacon and decoration peas<\/p>\n<p>But if too thick add a bit more stock.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ladle soup into bowls, decorate with bacon peas and the gravestone soldiers<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recipe adapted from BBC Good food, photos Gardeninglady<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Because of the pun it\u2019s great for Halloween, but with \u201cnormal\u201d soldiers good for any day of the year.
