Knautia macedonica Melton Pastels is a hardy perennial and has a very long flowering period, from late May till October. The Scabiosa type flowers, as it is know as the Macedonian scabious, have an excellent mixture of mauve, pink and crimson, great as a cut flower as the stems grow up to 130 cm tall. Sow from April to June at 15 - 20 Celsius, the plants will flower the following spring.
The long slender, airy stems are excellent in the cottage garden.
