For 10:
4 eating apples
50grams of raisins, reconstituted in hot water
Handful of flaked almonds
1 tablespoon for sprinkling
2-3 tablespoons of sugar for the filling
3 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 lemon, juice of
25grams of butter
1 pack of 10 small sheets of all butter puff pastry
Whipped cream to serve (optional)
1 table spoon of water
Method:
Put the sheets of pastry on a board to defrost slightly.
Heat oven on 200degrees.
Wash and cut up apples, leave skin on.
Drain the raisins.
Put lemon juice in a bowl, add the apples, stir well to coat them.
Add the raisins, cinnamon, 2 tablespoons of sugar to the apples.
With a cookie cutter cut out a heart from each sheet of pastry, you can save cut offs or roll it out for more.
Butter an oven tray and lay the hearts on it.
With a fork make loads of holes in the pastry so it doesn’t rise too much.
With a pastry brush wet the pastry with some water, sprinkle sugar and almonds on top.
Cook the hearts in the oven for about 15 minutes, until sugar is melted and golden brown.
Meanwhile dissolve butter in a pan, do let it color.
Add apple mixture and a splash of water.
On a low heat gentle heat the apples until soft, but still retaining their shape.
If using whip the cream with some sugar and vanilla if desired.
