Gaillardia grandiflora ( Blanket flower) has large daisy like flowers for a long period of time. An excellent colour range, including bicoloured blooms. Ideal in borders and as a cut flower. Can flower in first year from an early sowing. Grows up to 80 cm tall.
Sow the gaillardia flower seeds from late winter to early summer at a temperature of about 20 Celsius in a good seedsowing compost. Sow the blanket flower seed on surface of the compost and gently firm down the compost.Keep the soil moist but not too wet. Do not cover the seeds completely as the light will aid germination and placing the seed tray into a polythenebag after sowing help germination too. Germination usually takes two-three weeks.
