Sorrel (Rumex acetosa) is a herbaceous slender perennial and grows up to 60 cm tall. The roots grow really deep. Nowdays the leaves used like spinach or raw in salads. Or used in sauces as they have a good acidity level. Sorrel has been cultivated for hundreds of years, but today it is mainly a wild food. Rich in Vitamin A and C, also contains Vitamin B-6, Magnesium and Iron.

Sow the sorrel seeds from late March to April inside in seed compost by scuttering the fine seeds on the top. Cover the seeds only lightly and keep them slightly moist.

Rich, well drained soil is recommended. Thin out to 5-10cm apart as the seedlings appear. Used the thinnings in salads. Water well in dry spells.Harvest the young leaves as required, picking only a few from each plant. Crops continuously if picked often.
