Common poppy or field poppy grows as a weed on corn fields and wheat field.  The long, about 70 cm stems have a single flower which is vivid red. A great annual flower, and will re-seed itself if you leave the flowers on the stems and let it go to seed. The seeds normally sprout in the spring and flowers will occur during the growing season from June till September.

Sow the seeds direct outside in the spring from March - May, and lightly cover the seeds with soil. Germinates within 20 days.

The flowers will thrive between late June and September on 40 - 70 cm long hairy stems.
