A very leafy salad vegetable. Salad bowl lettuce has large spreading habit with masses of long, pale green leaves. Sow the lettuce seeds from early spring or in the autumn, 0.5 cm deep 30 cm apart. A rich, well-drained soil is recommended.
Can be grown in pots and containers.
Thin out to 25-35 cm apart as the seedlings appear and make sure you eat the seedlings too, nothingbetter than a micro salad. Water well in dry spells.
