Zinnia haageana - Jazzy mix is a half hardy annual and has semi double flowers and double bi-coloured flowers. A truly stunning flower which will catch the eyes of everyone visiting your garden, including bees and butterflies. The petals are closley set and they are red with yellow, or red with orange and many different shades of red and yellow. These zinnias are compact and have a bushy habit, growing only up to 45 cm tall. To encourage branching out and a long flowering period cut the dead flowers off. These zinnia plants will bloom throughout the summer months all the way till October; the longest flowering zinnia you can find.

Sow the zinnia haageana jazzy mix seeds in April in small pots about 0.5 cm deep in good quality seed compost. Alternatively sow flower seed directly outside where the plants are to grow in May when the soil has warmed up in your area. Keep the seeds at a temperature of 20 Celsius, germination usually 10-20 days. Placing the pods into a plastic bag can aid germanitaion, especially if you sow the seeds in an unheated greenhouse. Make sure that the compost is slightly moist at all times.

Zinnias hate their roots being disturbed and they also hate cold. So it s important to start the seeds in modules indoors so you do not have to disturbe the root system when plantimg out later, or sow the seeds directly outside when the soil warms up in May - June.

Water the seedlings regularly and thin them out if necessary but be very careful and do not damage the roots of the seedlings. When the plants 20-30 cm tall plant them out to their final position into a sunny spot.
