Garlic Mustard (Allaria petiolata) is common in wodded areas and in hedgerows. An easy to grow herb and even the roots and flowers are edible. The garlic mustard has large pale green leaves, and white flowers. The leaves can be used in salads, the roots as a milder horseradish alternative.

Sow the seeds direct in a well prepared herb garden in early April. Germination can take 7 - 12 days. Water the plants regularly in dry spells. Ready to pick in 2 months after germination. The flowers attract butterflies and other benefical insect.
